Quality, Safety & Engineering Compliance Statement
At Aldertools, quality, safety and engineering compliance are central to the way we source, supply and support specialist gas turbine tooling.
Our approach is based on controlled sourcing, appropriate inspection, clear documentation and defined responsibility throughout the tooling supply process.
Controlled Sourcing
New tooling is sourced and manufactured through suitably qualified and appropriately vetted third-party manufacturers and suppliers, in accordance with the specification agreed for the individual requirement.
Pre-owned tooling is assessed according to its condition, available provenance, identification and the requirements of the intended application. Where appropriate, additional inspection, testing, calibration or certification can be arranged.
Inspection & Documentation
Tooling may be subject to appropriate identification, dimensional, visual or functional inspection depending on its type, condition and intended use.
Where applicable and available, supporting documentation may include inspection records, conformity documentation, material information, calibration records, certification and traceability information.
The level of inspection, testing and documentation provided is determined by the individual tooling requirement and any specific customer requirements agreed before supply.
Third-Party Quality Control
Aldertools does not operate its own manufacturing workshop. We work with established third-party manufacturers, inspectors, packaging providers and logistics partners as required.
We select and coordinate these providers according to the requirements of the individual tooling programme and maintain oversight of the supply process appropriate to the services being provided.
Tooling Identification & Technical Support
Aldertools can assist customers in identifying the tooling required for a particular engine, equipment configuration or maintenance task.
This support is intended to assist the procurement process. The customer remains responsible for confirming that the tooling identified is the tooling required for its specific engine, configuration, maintenance procedure and application before ordering or use.
Customer & End-User Responsibility
Tooling must be used by suitably competent personnel and in accordance with the applicable maintenance documentation, technical instructions, risk assessments and site safety requirements.
Customers and end-users remain responsible for confirming application suitability, configuration, operating requirements and safe use of the tooling within their own operations.
Where a specific engineering verification, inspection, testing or certification requirement is required, this should be agreed with Aldertools before the tooling is supplied.
Continuous Review
We continually review our sourcing, inspection, documentation and supplier-management processes to maintain a consistent and proportionate approach to quality and engineering compliance across the tooling we supply.
Our objective is to provide customers with appropriately sourced, clearly identified and suitably documented tooling, supported by a transparent and controlled supply process.
Supplier Qualification & Quality Assurance
Aldertools operates a controlled, risk-based approach to the selection and management of third-party manufacturers, inspection providers and other specialist suppliers involved in the supply of industrial gas turbine tooling.
As Aldertools does not operate its own manufacturing facility, the capability and reliability of our external supply chain are an important part of our quality process.
Supplier Selection
Before engaging a new supplier, Aldertools assesses the supplier against criteria appropriate to the nature and risk of the work being undertaken.
This may include review of:
-
Company identity, registration and trading history
-
Relevant technical and manufacturing capability
-
Experience with industrial tooling or comparable engineering work
-
Quality management arrangements
-
Inspection and measurement capability
-
Calibration and equipment-control arrangements
-
Material and component traceability where required
-
Ability to work to controlled drawings, specifications and revisions
-
Relevant certifications and accreditations
-
Insurance and commercial suitability
-
Subcontracting arrangements
-
Health, safety and environmental considerations
-
Legal, ethical and supply-chain compliance
-
Sanctions and export-control considerations where applicable
Supplier requirements are proportionate to the type, complexity and risk of the tooling or service being provided. Where appropriate, Aldertools may request supporting documentation, certificates, inspection records, references or other evidence of capability.
Quality Requirements
For manufactured tooling, Aldertools defines the required specification and quality controls for the individual order.
Depending on the tooling and application, this may include:
-
Dimensional inspection
-
Functional or interface checks
-
Material certification
-
Inspection records
-
Certificates of conformity
-
Calibration
-
Identification and serialisation
-
Traceability documentation
-
Photographic records
-
Specialist third-party inspection or testing
Not every requirement applies to every item. Inspection and documentation requirements are established according to the individual tooling specification, intended application and customer requirements.
Supplier Performance
Approved suppliers are monitored against the requirements relevant to the work they undertake for Aldertools.
Performance may be reviewed using factors including:
-
Product conformity
-
Inspection results
-
Non-conformances
-
Delivery performance
-
Documentation quality
-
Responsiveness
-
Corrective actions
-
Customer feedback
-
Changes in capability or supply arrangements
Where performance does not meet the required standard, Aldertools may request corrective action, increase inspection or oversight, suspend further orders or remove the supplier from its approved supply base.
Specialist Suppliers & Subcontracting
Where a supplier uses subcontractors or specialist external providers for processes relevant to the supplied tooling, Aldertools may require these arrangements to be disclosed and controlled where appropriate to the level of risk.
Specialist services such as inspection, calibration, testing or other technical activities may be assigned to suitably competent third parties where required.
Proportionate & Application-Specific Controls
Aldertools does not apply a single fixed supplier qualification requirement to every supplier.
The level of due diligence, inspection and documentation is determined by factors including the type of tooling, manufacturing process, technical complexity, intended application, safety considerations, supplier capability and customer requirements.
Our objective is to ensure that the organisations involved in supplying tooling to our customers are appropriately selected, technically capable and subject to controls proportionate to the work they undertake.
Supplier Technical Documentation
Where required by the tooling specification, application or customer requirements, Aldertools works with suppliers to obtain appropriate technical documentation prior to dispatch. This may include:
-
Material traceability and material certification
-
Dimensional inspection and measurement reports
-
NDT reports, including MPI, DPI or UT where specified
-
Load and lifting certification for applicable equipment
-
Calibration certificates for torque, measurement and test equipment
-
Certificates of Conformity and supporting inspection records
-
Tool identification and traceability, including part and serial numbers
-
Photographic records where appropriate
The level of inspection, testing and documentation is determined by the tooling type, intended application, technical requirements and customer specification.
